This work aims to investigate and explain the different foundations linked to conceptualizations of equation and quadratic function, with the purpose of enriching a teaching and learning proposal implemented in a 5th year course of Secondary Education in our province. A study of the mathematical knowledge and arguments that underpin the topic is presented, and a didactic analysis in which perspectives, problems, and needs related to the teaching of equations and quadratic functions are developed. The importance and limitations of working in both an algebraic and graphic system are analyzed; however, it is concluded that working with problematic situations specific to geometry gives greater meaning to the abstract of the algebraic. To complement this work, teaching moments are attached within the residency experience, which give rise to reflection on the decisions incorporated from the tour and bibliographic review.Downloads
