En este trabajo se analiza la obra teatral de Pablo Neruda Fulgor y muerte de Joaquín Murieta, relacionado con la época de la fiebre de oro en California en el siglo XIX. Sobre todo, se estudia la investigación histórica que hizo Neruda sobre el tema y la insercion de la obra en las polémicas en torno a la presencia de mineros mexicanos y chilenos en la California de la época.
