Specialization in Regional History: Background and academic career
Keywords:

This document describes the origin, development and implementation of the Specialization in Regional History (EHR), a distance learning postgraduate program at the Faculty of Human Sciences, National University of La Pampa (UNLPam). The EHR arises from the need to address regional issues and to take advantage of institutional capacities in distance education. It is based on research in regional history promoted by the Institute of Socio-Historical Studies and on the strengthening of the Distance Education area of the Faculty of Human Sciences (UNLPam).
Approved in 2015, this specialization is unique in its modality in the country. Its curricular design includes nine curricular spaces and a final work, addressing topics such as regional economic, political, social and cultural history, memory, heritage and indigenous archeology. The proposal emphasizes theoretical and practical training and the transfer of knowledge to cultural and educational management.
The organizational structure has a director, a coordinator and an advisory council. Among the challenges faced are the COVID-19 pandemic and the adaptation of a proposal to the territorial demands of its students. Distance education ensures flexibility for students who cannot access face-to-face proposals. On the other hand, the territorial approach, the methodological adaptation to the modality, as well as the integration of technologies guarantee academic and professional relevance.
The EHR is positioned as an innovative and situated response for those who work in archives, museums, libraries and education, promoting the preservation of heritage and regional memory.
