WEAVING – WEFT THESES. Interweaving lives beyond doctoral theses

From the meetings of doctoral students organised by the HUM 619 research group, the need arises to contrast experiences, expose perspectives, and raise uncertainties and gaps that are generated in the transition from theses to post theses stages. We opened a line of collaborative work based on virtual and/or face-to-face meetings to bring together and connect different stories about the research processes. The stories reveal how theses transform us on a personal and professional level and lead us to reconstruct our own identity. From the basis of listening and the ethics of care, a weft that reveals silenced experiences is unraveling and invites researchers to unburden themselves of the heavy emotional load that has crossed their path. The methodology, with a qualitative, dialogical and critical approach, is constructed from the personal accounts of each participant at different stages of the research work (initial theses, about to be read or completed). The initial results show us different approaches, diverse ages and stages of life, positions as doctoral students and supervisors, and the emotional and physical dimensions of the researchers, transformations, meanings and un-reasons. Through our stories, we discover perspectives that converge in identical concerns and see the importance of generating and sharing knowledge collaboratively (Fernández Torres, Leite Méndez y Márquez Garcia, 2019).
