Ethical standards Praxis Educativa

This document outlines the best practice principles adopted by our journal to ensure high standards of publishing ethics and good editorial practices. Praxis Educativa adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for good publication practice.

Research Integrity

These principles encompass honesty in all aspects of publication, transparency and open communication, and care and respect for all participants in the publication process. In addition to these general principles, the journal's editorial team provides specific guidelines and policies for authors regarding the ethical standards applicable to their field of study and the topics addressed in their submissions.

Regarding Complaints and Appeals

Complaints and appeals concerning the journal and its editorial processes should be submitted to the Editorial Committee, which will review the matter and determine the appropriate course of action. A response will be provided within 30 days of receipt of the complaint or appeal. If the outcome is deemed unsatisfactory, a final appeal may be submitted to the UNLPam Journal Editorial Board (CERAC), which serves as the journal's final appeals body.

Regarding conflicts of interest

Praxis Educativa is committed to maintaining editorial independence and takes all reasonable measures to ensure that editorial decisions are not influenced by conflicts of interest.

A conflict of interest exists when an individual's personal, professional, commercial, political, academic, or financial interests could compromise, or reasonably be perceived to compromise, their judgment, objectivity, or integrity in relation to their responsibilities as an author, reviewer, editor, or member of the Editorial Committee.

To promote transparency and safeguard the integrity of the editorial process, all authors, reviewers, editors, and members of the Editorial Committee are required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may influence, or be perceived to influence, their work. The disclosure of conflicts of interest is an essential mechanism for ensuring the credibility and transparency of scholarly publishing.

Accordingly, Praxis Educativa requires authors to include a conflict of interest statement in every manuscript submitted for publication. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors should explicitly state that they have no conflicts of interest to declare.

Regarding Peer Review

Peer review is essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of the scholarly publication process. All manuscripts submitted to Praxis Educativa are evaluated by independent experts with recognized expertise in the subject area of each submission.

The journal is committed to protecting the confidentiality of all participants involved in the peer review process. Praxis Educativa operates a double-anonymous peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Reviewers are required to treat all manuscripts and associated materials as confidential documents. They must not disclose, discuss, or use any information contained in a manuscript for personal or professional purposes before its publication. Likewise, all editorial decisions and reviewer reports are handled confidentially by the editors.

If reviewers suspect plagiarism, data fabrication, ethical misconduct, or any other form of research or publication malpractice, they must promptly notify the Editor confidentially and must not disclose their concerns to anyone else.

Regarding Authorship and Copyright Policy

Praxis Educativa welcomes submissions from all authors without discrimination, provided that the manuscripts are original, unpublished, and are not under consideration by another journal or publisher at the time of submission.

The journal does not offer monetary compensation to authors and does not charge any fees at any stage of the publication process. There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs), submission fees, peer review fees, copyediting fees, or publication fees.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that they agree to the journal's submission guidelines and publication policies and that they hold the necessary rights to the work. Authors are also required to grant the journal permission to publish the accepted manuscript in accordance with the journal's copyright and licensing policies.

Regarding Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is defined as presenting another person's work, ideas, words, or other intellectual content, in whole or in part, as one's own without proper acknowledgment of the original source, regardless of whether the omission is intentional.

Examples of plagiarism include, but are not limited to:

  • copying another person's words or ideas and presenting them as one's own;

  • reproducing text verbatim without appropriate citation or quotation;

  • paraphrasing another person's work without proper acknowledgment of the original source;

  • using another person's ideas, data, figures, or other intellectual contributions without attribution;

  • copying and pasting material from internet sources or other publications without appropriate citation; and

  • submitting another person's work, in whole or in part, as one's own without clearly identifying the original author(s).

Plagiarism may also result from undisclosed collaboration or collusion with another individual whose contribution has not been properly acknowledged.

Praxis Educativa is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and will not consider for publication any manuscript containing plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, or any other form of research or publication misconduct. The journal reserves the right to screen all submitted manuscripts using appropriate plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, in whole or in part, will be rejected. If plagiarism or other serious ethical misconduct is identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate action, which may include the publication of a correction, an expression of concern, or the retraction of the article, in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The National University of La Pampa participates in Similarity Check, a service provided by Crossref that helps editors assess the originality of submitted manuscripts. Similarity Check uses iThenticate software to identify textual similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously published content, thereby supporting the journal's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

Regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Praxis Educativa adheres to the principles established in the Heredia Declaration, the CAICYT Decalogue for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific and Academic Journals, and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). In accordance with these frameworks, the journal promotes the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies throughout the scholarly publishing process.

The journal upholds the following principles:

  • Human responsibility: Editorial decision-making, peer review, and authorship are fundamentally human responsibilities. AI tools may support these processes but must never replace human judgment, accountability, or ethical responsibility.

  • Authorship: AI tools cannot be credited as authors or co-authors of scholarly works. Authors who use AI during the preparation of a manuscript must clearly disclose its use, specifying the AI tool or model, its version (when available), the date or period of use, the purpose for which it was used, and its contribution to the submitted work.

  • Peer review: Reviewers may use AI tools solely as support resources, provided that manuscript confidentiality is preserved and no confidential content is disclosed to external AI systems. The responsibility for the evaluation, interpretation, and final recommendation always rests with the human reviewer. Any significant use of AI in the review process should be disclosed to the journal.

  • Editorial processes: Editors are responsible for establishing, communicating, and monitoring policies governing the use of AI in editorial workflows. They must ensure that AI-assisted processes do not introduce bias, misinformation, or inaccuracies, and that all sources, references, and factual information are appropriately verified before publication.

These principles are intended to foster the responsible use of AI in scholarly publishing by promoting transparency, accountability, research integrity, and high editorial standards in response to the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging AI technologies.

Consistent with these principles, Praxis Educativa maintains that, regardless of the level of technological assistance involved in research or publishing, ethical responsibility for the creation, evaluation, editing, and communication of scientific knowledge remains exclusively with human participants.

Regarding data and its reproducibility: 

Praxis Educativa is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the scientific record. The journal does not tolerate any form of research misconduct, including the intentional manipulation, fabrication, falsification, concealment, or misrepresentation of data, methods, results, or other aspects of the research and publication process.

If evidence of research misconduct is identified during the editorial or peer review process, the manuscript will be rejected. If such misconduct is discovered after publication, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which may include the publication of a correction, an expression of concern, or the retraction of the article.

Authors are also responsible for ensuring that they have obtained all necessary permissions to reproduce or use archival materials, documents, images, datasets, or any other third-party content included in their manuscripts. Where applicable, authors must declare that they have the appropriate authorization from the relevant archive, repository, institution, or rights holder to use such materials.

Authors retain the copyright to their work without restriction while granting the journal the right of first publication. Since September 2018, all published articles have been distributed under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, which permits users to copy, distribute, reproduce, adapt, and build upon the published work for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and to Praxis Educativa, and that any derivative works are distributed under the same license.

The license does not permit commercial use of the published material without prior authorization from the copyright holder.

Authors are also encouraged to self-archive the accepted or published version of their articles in institutional or disciplinary repositories, personal websites, or other non-commercial platforms, provided that the original publication in Praxis Educativa is properly acknowledged.

Inclusive and Respectful Language

Praxis Educativa promotes the use of respectful, inclusive, and non-sexist language in all published content. Authors are encouraged to use language that avoids discriminatory, stereotypical, or exclusionary expressions based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, disability, religion, nationality, or any other personal or social characteristic. The journal supports writing practices that foster equity, diversity, and inclusion while maintaining clarity, precision, and academic rigor.
