The objective of this research is to make visible the critical knots that students experience at this stage. It is addressed through qualitative research of an exploratory nature whose specific sample is made up of the testimonies of students who have just failed a year of study. The experiences of students and teachers in the primary / secondary transition process are to be considered, taking into account the institutional conditions which interfere with the educational trajectories, thus jeopardizing enrollment and graduation level of dropping off and not graduating in the level they are attending. The current challenge is to achieve the improvement of the level based on an institutional consensus that includes the analysis of the teaching practices and the consideration of the consequences they can produce in the academic performance.
