Previous social representation and future effect on the students career at degree on Science of Comunication

This paper is about the social representations on the career of Science of Communication at the University of Buenos Aires and the transformation those representations go through during the period of studying. The aim of this paper is to analyze how this intervenes in the student’s career, in their strategy to stay, in their decisions and how it gives a new meaning to their career and the discipline from the student experience.
For that purpose, an institutional analysis of Science Communication degree was carried on and students’ interviews from the last year, differentiated by auto perception gender , orientation about the degree chosen, social class, origin and residence during the degree, and educational level of parents were analyzed. From there, it was carried out a biography analysis of life story.
The analysis explained that there is homogeneity in the previous representations about the degree despite the heterogeneity of the interviewees, as well as the transformations that those representations undergo during the degree, the students’ decisions about them and what elements explain those transformations and resolutions.
