The article presents the findings of social educative’s research on media speeches. The aim of this study was to analyze the main features of the discursive practices of the media coverage of the violence among students at school. It is based on the qualitative analysis of a sample of one thousand nine hundred and thirty notes of the diaries of the city of La Plata, Argentina, in the period 19982008. The data source was secondary and conducted to a final sample, by selecting the notes that provide information of interest in relation to the aim stipulated. The method employed was the analysis of socio-educational discourse. Among the main results, the violence between students are associated to an individual discourse without taking into account widely the institutional and sociocultural frames. These semantic networks hide the complexity of the youth’s conditions and the social role of the school as a citizens’ trainer in a democratic society. The present investigation extends the empirical basis on how to think and discuss the representation of the school and its actors on the media.Downloads
