Abstract

This article analyzes the transnational dimension of return migrations to Argentina within the context of Spain’s Great Recession (2008-2014). We argue that crises are part of the transnational experience, that they connect departure and destination points, and that they articulate practical meanings. These findings are based on qualitative research: through discourse, we analyze the meanings of crises since they are relevant not only because of their impact on living conditions but also because of their socio-historical meaning, from which interpretative frameworks shape migratory trajectories.
