Abstract

This article analyzes the ways in which the concept and social meanings of work are being resolved by sectors of the working class which are disaffiliated from the salary relationship within popular economy policies. Specifically, it shows the value of photographs as a creative resource to sustain said disputes as well as evincing – through the reconstruction of the context of production of photographs– the centrality that a series of care practices and collective forms of reproduction of life have which are fundamental to a broader understanding about work. This analysis is based on the dialogue between three ethnographic investigations carried out in Argentina between 2014 and 2021.
